Bursitis

A bursa is a small fluid-filled sac that cushions a joint. When it becomes inflamed, the result is sharp, localized pain that is worse with pressure and with movement. The shoulder, hip, elbow and knee are the usual sites.

Settling It Down

Treatment reduces the inflammation and then addresses the mechanics that irritated the bursa in the first place, so it does not simply flare again.
