Muscle Strains
Muscle Strains
A strain is a muscle or tendon that has been overstretched or torn. It is common in the low back, hamstring, calf and shoulder, and it happens both in sport and in everyday lifting.
Healing Well the First Time
Strains heal, but they heal with scar tissue that can stay tight and re-tear. Guided rehabilitation restores length and strength so the muscle can take load again.
How We Can Help
- Evaluation to grade the strain and rule out a more serious injury
- Manual therapy and soft tissue work
- Therapeutic ultrasound and electrical stimulation
- Progressive strengthening in physical therapy
- Kinesiology taping for support during return to activity
