Electromyography (EMG) testing is an electrodiagnostic tool used to evaluate how well nerves and muscles are communicating. By measuring electrical activity in muscle tissue and along nerve pathways, it helps identify the source of numbness, weakness, tingling, or pain that may not show up on standard imaging.

When EMG Testing Is Used

• Nerve compression — helps clarify conditions such as pinched nerves or radiculopathy.
• Muscle weakness — distinguishes muscle-based issues from nerve-based ones.
• Unexplained pain or tingling — useful when symptoms extend into the arms or legs.

Who Performs Testing

At Zeren Health, electrodiagnostic testing is overseen by Dr. Aric Hausknecht, MD, who trained in neurology and focuses on pain management, rehabilitation medicine, and electrodiagnostic testing.
